The follow-me (detached) trailer
Bicyclist uses "follow-me" technology on the self-navigating trailer. Pedaling charges in-bike battery, powers trailer.
Description
Applicable to two-wheel, three-wheel, or one-wheel trailer designs, this idea keeps the fun and freedom of the bicycle experience by detaching the bicycle from the trailer. Instead, the trailer uses follow-me technology to follow the path of the bicyclist from a close distance (enough time for braking, if needed). To keep the trailer "green", it uses electric energy produced during the pedaling of the bicycle itself, or electric energy that is stored in a rechargeable battery on the bicycle (i.e. applicable to the trend for electric/human hybrid-powered bicycles). Electric energy is transmitted to the trailer either wirelessly (a modern trend, e.g. Cycloboost), or by hooking up the trailer's internal rechargeable battery to the bicycle's internal battery when the they are parked. The "follow me" technology connects the trailer to the bicyclist's smartphone or smartwatch, and allows the person to control the trailer. Thus the person is freed from the cumbersome task of pushing a bicycle+attached trailer when parking, or maneuvering a narrow space/curve, etc . Instead, he can just push his bicycle, and the trailer is able to follow along on its own.
