Uniwheel trailer for bicycles
A uniwheel trailer to reduce the track width. With a self-balancing mechanism.
Description
Typically, bicycles are two in-line wheels, and yet almost every bicycle trailer is designed with at least 2 wheels in the trailer. As a result, whereas bicycles require just a narrow ON-GROUND surface to move on, the conventional bicycle trailers require a wider track and force the bicyclist to seek wider paved paths to accommodate the bicycle+trailer combination. My idea is a uniwheel trailer, such that the bicycle+trailer combination requires a narrow track. Obviously, this will need to adjust its balance from side-to-side dynamically. The balancing uses shifting weights, and is controlled by a microcontroller. For example, accelerometer and gyroscope inputs from the bicycle ahead, as well as from the uniwheel itself, can be used to determine the changes needed to maintain the uniwheel's balance.
